Starting its operation in 1987, the School of Management Studies today offers a wide range of courses. The School follows a system of course-wise registration in its management programme.
In the management programme semester system is followed as: January to June and July to December. The following courses are on offer in First and Second Semesters respectively. The students should opt for those courses only which are on offer during that semester.

(a) All programmes are offered in English.
(b) ‘Supervisory experience' means that the person is in the supervisory cadre and supervising or looking after the work of a minimum of three subordinates report to him/her.
(c) ‘Managerial experience' means that the person is concerned with decision making responsibilities.
(d) ‘Professional' means a person holding a degree in Engineering, Law, Medicine Accountancy etc.
(e) ‘Experience' means work experience of a person during or after acquiring the qualification as specified above.
Note: Along with the above eligibility criteria, a student must have qualified the OPENMAT Test conducted by the University. Candidates who are appearing or have appeared in any qualifying examination but their results are not declared on or before the last date for submission of Application Forms for Admission to Management Programme will not be eligible.
Those who are Non-graduates and who have successfully completed DIM would be allowed to get admission into Management Programme (MBA), without re-appearing in Entrance Test (OPENMAT), after completing Bachelor's degree, if they so desire. In such a case they should send the re-registration form along with the mark-sheet and copy of the Bachelor's Degree to the concerned Regional Director for getting admission to MBA, within the dates prescribed by the University for re-registration. Normally, the dates are 1st February to 31St March and 1St August to 30th September for respective semesters.
The students qualifying any of PG Specialization Diplomas, if desirous of pursuing MBA, may do so by registering for other courses. However, those who have done PG Specialization Diplomas under Direct Entry stream prior to 1997 will have to qualify OPENMAT Test and apply for credit transfer by paying requisite fee on prescribed form to the Registrar (SR &. E), IGNOU, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi-110068 as per credit transfer rules.
Admission to Management Programmes of IGNOU is done through OPENMAT Entrance Examinations, held twice a year. For appearing in the entrance test (OPENMAT) a student has to fill up Application Form For OPENMAT Entrance Test (form 1) which is provided separately in an envelope along with the STUDENT HANDBOOK AND PROSPECTUS. The Master of Computer Applications programme is
approved by the AICTE (F. No. AICTE/ Academic /MoU-DEC/2005 dated May 13, 2005). N.B. Presently, only 3 elective courses
are on
offer and
student
should select all of them, as and when we design the new courses we will inform. Note:
The objective of the programme is to open a channel of admission for computing courses for students,
who have
done
the 10+2 and are interested in taking computing as a career. After acquiring the Bechelor’s Degree
(BCA) at
IGNOU,
there is further an educational opportunity to go in for MCA Programme at IGNOU or a Master’s
Programme at
another
University. The minimum prescribed period for integrated mode MCA and BCA is five years. The basic

The Diploma in HIV and family Education aims at providing basic and accurate information about
HIV/AIDs, sex and sexuality, family life education, alcohol and drugs and communication and
counseling. The comments are designed to impart an integrated understanding to the learners about
the issues involved in HIV/AIDS and behavior modification. The main objective of this programme is
to enhance the knowledge and skills of functions involved in HIV/AIDS and related issues. The main
target groups include school teachers, NGO functionaries. Para-medicals, parents of adolescents and
those interested in acquiring knowledge on the subjects. The Diploma in HIV and Family education
Programme has the following seven courses. A Student who has successfully collected CAFE can pursue DAFE by making payment of the remaining fee
and requesting the Universities for credits training from CAFÉ to DAFE. The Certificate in HIV and Family Education provides comprehensive knowledge about what, why and how
of HIV/AIDS basic a HIV/AIDS, family life education, facts of life and substance abuse. The consents
are designed to impart an integrated understanding to the learners about the issues involved in
HIV/AIDS and behavior modification. The target groups include school teachers, NGO functionaries,
para-medicals, parents of adolescents and those interested in acquiring knowledge on the subjects.
The Certificate Programme has the following courses of 4 credits each. A learner has to choose 2
compulsory courses and any 2 optional courses from the 4 electives. One has to acquire 16 credits
for a certificate.

Project them Certificate in Human Rights Programme is an innovative learning package of 16 credits spread over 3
courses. It has been designed specifically to sensitize and educate professionals and workers who,
as a part of their routine duty, interact with masses daily. Besides general students, specific
target groups include law enforcement personnel (police, army, paramilitary forces) and
functionaries of the lower judiciary and administrative officers, primary school teachers and NGO
functionaries. In preparing the course material, special care has been taken to address the concerns
raised by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights at the time of launching of the UN Decade for
Human Rights Education.
This Programme is based on the communicative approach to language teaching and is designed to enhance
the teachers’ understanding of the learners, the learning process and the nature and structure of
the English Language. It will also help the teachers to innovate strategies for teaching the skills
of listening, speaking, reading and writing.

The Board of objective of the MCA is to prepare graduate students for productive careers in software
industry/academia by providing an outstanding environment for teaching and research in the core and emerging

of the discipline. The programme’s thrust is on giving the students a through and sound background in
theoretical

emphasizes
the
application of software technology to solve mathematical, computing, communications/networking and

This Master’s Degree Programme has been designed with a semester approach in mind. The first year courses
are
aimed
at skills development in computers using various technologies, the second year is more focused on core
courses
providing a conceptual framework and the third year provides the specialization and the project work. After
the
successful completion of first year courses, the student will receive the PGDCA (Post Graduate Diploma in

Applications) certificate.
The Programme has been divided into two semesters per year (January- June and July- December).

11. Bachelor Preparatory Programme (BPP)
Bachelor’s Preparatory Programme is offered by the University to those students who wish to do
Bachelor’s Degree
but
do not have the essential qualifications of having passed 10 + 2. In the absence of such a
qualifying
certificate
these students are deprived of higher education. To enable such students to enter higher education
stream, IGNOU
has
designed this programme.
Structure of the Programme
The Bachelor’s Preparatory Programme has following courses. Student has to select any two of these
courses.
i) Preparatory Course in General Mathematics – OMT-101.
ii) Preparatory Course in Social Sciences – OSS-101.
iii) Preparatory Course in Commerce – PCO-01.
Duration : 6 months – 2 years.
Programme Fee : Rs. 850/-
Eligibility : No formal qualification.
Minimum Age : 18 years (As on 1st January of the academic year).
